What’s the latest with the Waterloo Greenway Delta Project?
Now known as The Confluence, the second phase of the Waterloo Greenway project refers to the southernmost section of the Waterloo Greenway, where Waller Creek meets Lady Bird Lake, stretching from 4th Street to the lake.
The project aims to improve the ecological health and accessibility of this section of the creek by stabilizing creek banks, improving water quality, and creating new green spaces. The Confluence will feature new pedestrian and bike trails, three lightweight suspension bridges, and a biofiltration pond. The project also involves planting a large number of trees and plants to improve the local ecosystem.
A major goal is to connect downtown Austin, the Rainey Street Historic District, and the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail, providing new opportunities for walking, running, and biking.
